Arts Chinampa
Becoming artists, musicians, dancers, MC, singers, story tellers, writers, filmmakers, directors, painters
Arts Chinampa is a network of Latinx artists leaders in Utah.

This network started at the Imaginemos Utah Summit, where young Latinx leaders came together to create a 5-10 year collective vision of where the Latinx community needs to be leading in Utah. This vision revolves around the framework of Chinampas and Communities. All leaders that are part of Imaginemos Utah follow the Norms.

The purpose of Imaginemos Utah is to gather influential Latinx young leaders, in order to empower and lead our collective vision.

Arts Chinampa Co-Leads
Latinx leaders in the arts!
Giovanni Giannoni
Arts Chinampa Co-Lead
Giovanni has been working recently in empowering the Latinx community through joining Imaginemos Utah. Giovanni is currently the Chair of the Hispanic Caucus in the Utah Democratic Party. He's a musician and artist. He has a passion for bringing greater awareness to suicide prevention.
Gianfranco Fernandez Ruiz
Arts Chinampa Co-Lead
Gianfranco often echoes paralleling themes of self-discovery and the immigrant experience. Capturing the passers-by seen in Boston's inner-city to write characters with heart, who fail all the same, but show courage enough. Their verve and rhythm gives them walk and talk that mixes tribal beats from the Dominican-native , two-sided, tambora drum and the urban percussions of 90s boom bap. Gianfranco realizes film's power for catharsis and truth, but his voice is not yet represented. Writing with a diversity, lacking in much of Utah-based storytelling, he aims to prove that Utah creatives, Utah arts, and Utah landscapes hold as much cinematic value as Chicago, New York, L.A, and other urban landscapes. His dream is to show all the little carajitos in all the barrios that first generation stories like theirs crossed seas to be told, and in the most unexpected ways.
Arts Chinampa Sections
If we use chinampas as our imagery and framework to leadership development, we understand that nurtured leaders will give back nutrients to the rest of the chinampas. All of our chinampas are aligned to our Collective Vision and follow our Norms. Find out who are our Co-Leads for each Chinampa.
